|
Peter has been fortunate enough to have been exposed to the journey of his father Peter Farmer Snr, and although no formal training has been given to him, he has been able to have a first hand glimpse of the Aboriginal Art world by way of his father. Peter and his dad have had many paint sessions and drawing sessions together, and Peter's artistic talents and ideas have been both nurtured and encouraged by both his parents. Peter like most 12 year-olds, likes watching cartoons, and likes to draw many of his favourite characters. Dragon Ball Z, Avatar the last Air bender, The Simpson’s and Kung Fu Panda, are some of his favourites to name just a few.
Young PJ, as he is otherwise known as, is also an amazing portrait artist, and has drawn various characters for friends, such as Harry Potter, 50 Cent, Edward from the Twilight Movie, and Sam from the Transformers Movies. PJ has also produced portraits of much loved family member's, like his cousins' newborn, and a portrait for another cousin for her 17th Birthday. Participation in artistic or creative workshops and competitions have led to some surprises for PJ. In 2004 the Moore’s Building in Fremantle in conjunction with the City of Fremantle held the Walyalup Dreaming Community Arts Project, and held workshops to young people in art and language, which was designed to build self-esteem, along with the awarding of certificates participation. Peter went on to enter into various Naidoc Youth Art Competitions and although he was unsuccessful, he discovered the desire to both produce and distribute his works.
In 2007 Peter's, School St. Michael's in Bassendean, entered a group of students from yrs 5 to 7 into the Town of Bassendean Photographic Awards & Exhibition. Peter won the Junior Division of the 'Our Town' category as well being awarded second prize in the 'Our Images' category. He has gone on to take many a spectacular photographs of family and friends along with a pretty spectacular shot of Subiaco Oval during the Western Derby in 2007, that includes Ben Cousins, holding the ball, Chris Judd, David Wirrpanda, Jeff Farmer and Matthew Pavlich, visible in the shot as well.
Peter has been producing a cartoon strip for family and friends titled; "A Boys Life" - that pictorial’s the many trials and tribulations of primary school life, and football and home life of a young 'Noongar Boy' finding his way in the world. This is a comical look at life's high and sometimes low's; and how he works through both the challenges and joys of being a 12 year old. PJ will be adding this cartoon strip to this page for family and friends to download once a month - STAY TUNED! |
